Former LA County Deputy Sean Essex Sexually Abused Four Girls. He Got 40 Years.

Sean Essex spent 22 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

For years, he was also sexually abusing children.

Essex was accused of repeatedly abusing four girls who were between 4 and 13 years old when the abuse occurred. Three were sisters, daughters of a woman he was dating. A fourth girl said Essex abused her in 2006.

And that fourth case makes this even harder to stomach.

Authorities investigated the 2006 allegation at the time, but prosecutors declined to file charges. Essex remained a deputy for more than a decade afterward.

He was finally arrested in 2022.

In 2024, Essex pleaded no contest to three counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and one count of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14.

He admitted taking advantage of a position of trust.

His sentence was 40 years in state prison. He must also register as a sex offender.

Years earlier, a child had already spoken up.

The system had already been warned.

He kept his badge anyway. And more children were hurt.
