Suzanne was initially believed to have disappeared while on a bike ride.
Her remains weren't found until September 2023, more than three years after she vanished. An autopsy later determined that her death was a homicide and reported the presence of a tranquilizer in her system.
Morphew, who worked as a deer farmer, was among the few people investigators said had access to the chemical involved.
He was subsequently indicted on a first-degree murder charge. Morphew has pleaded not guilty and continues to deny killing his wife.
In September 2026, Morphew's bond was increased to $10 million cash-only after a judge determined that he had violated the conditions of his release.
According to the court, Morphew allegedly committed a hit-and-run crash in Denver while driving a Ford truck, failed to stop or provide information, and then traveled extensively despite restrictions imposed through GPS monitoring.
Authorities arrested him again in Colorado Springs on September 3, 2026.
Morphew's murder trial is currently scheduled to begin in July 2027.
This case remains unresolved. Morphew has not been convicted of Suzanne's murder, and prosecutors will have to prove their case at trial.
Suzanne should remain at the center of the record.
Suzanne Morphew disappeared on Mother's Day weekend. Her family waited more than three years before her remains were finally found. Now her husband stands accused of her murder. Whatever the verdict eventually is, Suzanne deserves to be remembered as a woman whose life mattered, not simply as evidence in somebody else's fucking trial.
