Border Patrol Agent Abel Quiroz Exchanged Nude Photos With a 15-Year-Old Girl. He Got 30 Months.

Abel Michael Quiroz was a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

In April 2014, Homeland Security Investigations arrested him after investigators discovered that he had been communicating with a 15-year-old girl by email.

Those communications included the exchange of nude photographs.

Quiroz was 27.

She was 15.

In January 2015, Quiroz pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

On April 20, 2015, he was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

He was also required to register as a sex offender.

The legal language calls those images “visual depictions.”

But the age difference makes the reality much simpler.
