Border Patrol Agent Jesus Salgado Nanez Was Indicted After His Wife Accused Him of Repeated Sexual Assault

Jesus Salgado Nanez was a U.S. Border Patrol agent stationed at the Alpine Border Patrol Station in Texas when he was arrested in June 2016.

The allegations came from his wife.

According to authorities, she reported that Nanez had sexually assaulted her multiple times while she was unconscious from prescription medication.

Nanez, then 44, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.

After his initial arrest and release on bond, a Brewster County grand jury formally indicted him on the charges.

The available information also shows later appellate litigation. In 2018, an appeal filed by Nanez was dismissed after he moved to drop the appeal himself.

What this record does not establish is equally important: the information here does not show that Nanez was ultimately convicted of sexual assault or provide the final disposition of the underlying criminal charges.

So for the Accountability Archive, this remains an indictment and allegation, not a conviction.

But the allegation itself is deeply disturbing.

His wife said a federal Border Patrol agent repeatedly sexually assaulted her when prescription medication left her unconscious. Authorities investigated, arrested him, and a grand jury indicted him on two sexual-assault charges.
