Former Border Patrol Agent Ramon Marquez Is Accused of Sexually Exploiting a 16-Year-Old Girl in a CBP Youth Program

Ramon Marquez was a U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Yuma Sector in Arizona.

The girl at the center of the case was 16 years old and enrolled in the CBP Law Enforcement Explorer Program, a youth program for teenagers interested in law enforcement careers.

Marquez was supposed to help oversee that program.

Instead, prosecutors allege he sexually exploited one of the teenagers entrusted to it.

According to court records, the alleged conduct began in December 2024 and continued into April 2025. Authorities say some encounters happened during official Explorer activities, inside Marquez's patrol vehicle, during out-of-town trips, and even inside Border Patrol facilities.

A Yuma County grand jury indicted Marquez on 15 felony counts, including 14 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. Prosecutors allege he knowingly photographed or recorded some of the sexual activity.

And there was reportedly another warning.

Investigators learned that another teenage girl in the Explorer program had previously reported Marquez for allegedly sending inappropriate messages and trying to arrange secret meetings.

Marquez was arrested in May 2025.

He has not been convicted, and the charges remain pending, so the allegations need to stay allegations unless and until they are proven or admitted in court.

But the position of trust here matters.

She joined a law enforcement program for kids. Prosecutors say the Border Patrol agent overseeing it sexually exploited her instead.
