Border Patrol Supervisor Armando Gonzalez Hid a Camera in a Women’s Restroom

Armando Gonzalez was a supervisory U.S. Border Patrol agent working at the Chula Vista Border Patrol station in California.

For roughly 18 months, a hidden camera sat inside the drain of a women’s restroom at his workplace.

Gonzalez put it there.

The motion-activated camera secretly recorded female coworkers and other federal employees while they were undressing and using the restroom. Investigators estimated Gonzalez collected around 300 videos and spent extensive time editing, organizing, and saving them.

Then, in January 2015, a woman noticed something inside the drain.

She found the camera.

And the footage reportedly contained something pretty fucking undeniable:

Video of Gonzalez himself installing it with a screwdriver.

When confronted, Gonzalez initially lied. He claimed he'd planted the camera as part of an unauthorized investigation into another employee.

In 2015, he pleaded guilty to seven counts of video voyeurism and one count of making a false statement to a federal officer.

His sentence was 21 months in federal prison.

Among the women who later sued over the secret recordings were federal employees, including an FBI agent.

This wasn't one impulsive act.

He installed it. He maintained it. He collected hundreds of videos. He organized them. And he kept doing it for a year and a half.
