Brandon Kendrick Is Accused of Killing His Wife and Four Children in Their Alabama Home.

Brandon Kendrick Is Accused of Murdering His Wife and Four Children, Including His Own Son and Daughter

On the night of July 18, 2024, authorities say Brandon Allan Kendrick opened fire inside his family's West Blocton, Alabama, home.

Five people were killed.

His 24-year-old wife, Kelse Kendrick.

His 6-year-old son, Kaleb Kendrick.

His 2-year-old daughter, Kynli Kendrick.

His 6-year-old niece, Haley Daniels.

And his 8-year-old nephew, Colton Daniels.

Investigators testified that each victim suffered a 9mm gunshot wound to the head.

According to court testimony, Kendrick then walked to the nearby home of his grandparents. He allegedly entered their bedroom and opened fire again, but his grandfather managed to wrestle the gun away before anyone else was killed.

Kendrick has been charged with five counts of capital murder.

He has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. During pretrial proceedings, investigators testified that Kendrick allegedly told them he believed he was receiving commands from God and that “the TV told him to kill his family.” Those statements are part of the evidence and defense issues being litigated, not an independent medical conclusion about his mental state.

As of the information here, Kendrick has not been convicted. His capital-murder trial is scheduled for February 2027, and he remains jailed without bond.

Whatever a jury ultimately decides about Kendrick, five names belong at the center of this story:

Kelse. Kaleb. Kynli. Haley. Colton.

Three of them were six years old or younger. Five people went to sleep in a family home that night and never got another morning.
