Former Bridgeport Police Sergeant Ivan Delgado Sexually Assaulted Two Young Girls. He Got Seven Years.

Ivan Delgado spent 14 years with the Bridgeport Police Department in Connecticut and rose to the rank of sergeant.

Then came allegations involving children.

In September 2020, Delgado was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

He was placed on paid administrative leave and later retired.

Two months after that first arrest, police arrested Delgado again.

This time, another girl had come forward, alleging that Delgado had sexually assaulted her in incidents stretching back more than a dozen years.

Delgado initially rejected a plea agreement that would have sent him to prison for 12 years and prepared to take the cases to trial.

Then, in March 2024, he changed course.

Delgado pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a child.

On May 2, 2024, a judge sentenced him to 85 months in prison, just over seven years, followed by supervised treatment.

One of the girls was eleven fucking years old when she came forward. She deserved a childhood, not a police sergeant in her story for the rest of her life.
