Brooks Dean Due Shot and Killed His Estranged Wife, Then Killed Himself, Authorities Say

Brooks Dean Due was 49 years old when authorities say he shot his estranged wife, 48-year-old Anita Suzanne Due, in Briarcliff, Arkansas.

On April 21, 2025, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance and found Anita inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

She was still alive.

Anita was rushed to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Investigators identified her estranged husband as the primary suspect and obtained warrants charging him with first-degree murder and violation of a protection order.

Then came the manhunt.

Police searched for Due using canine teams and state police helicopters. His abandoned vehicle was found in a neighboring county.

The following day, authorities found him dead near Lake Norfork from what they described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The protection-order charge matters.

Anita had already taken a legal step meant to protect her. A piece of paper could not stop the man accused of killing her.

She was 48 years old.

Anita deserved the separation she was trying to make. She deserved to fucking live.
