Brothers Convicted of Murdering Family of Four, Including Children Ages 4 and 2, Before Setting Home on Fire

Two Brothers Convicted of Murdering a Family of Four and Setting Eight Fires to Destroy the Evidence

Brothers Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano and Luis Francisco Soriano were convicted on September 22, 2026, of murdering four members of an Irondequoit, New York, family, including two young children.

The victims were the brothers’ cousin, Fraime Ubaldo, 30; his girlfriend, Marangely Moreno-Santiago, 26; and their children, Evangeline, 4, and Sebastian, 2.

On August 31, 2024, firefighters responding to a burning home on Knapp Avenue discovered the family’s bodies in the basement.

They had been stabbed to death.

Prosecutors said the brothers bound the victims before killing them and then deliberately set eight separate fires throughout the house in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Investigators said the killings stemmed from a dispute involving missing cocaine connected to a drug-trafficking operation moving narcotics from Puerto Rico to Rochester.

The investigation eventually stretched across international borders.

Julio was captured approximately a week after the murders. Luis fled the United States and remained at large for months before authorities apprehended him in the Dominican Republic.

The five-week trial was unusual because each brother had a separate jury considering the evidence against him.

On September 22, 2026, both juries returned guilty verdicts. The brothers were convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping, arson, and burglary.

Evidence presented during the trial included surveillance footage and forensic evidence. Prosecutors also disclosed allegations involving a third man, Alberto Pomales, whom authorities say stole the drug shipment that precipitated the dispute and was outside the home when the killings occurred.

But whatever dispute existed between adults, Evangeline was four years old. Sebastian was two.

Four people were bound and murdered inside their own home, and eight fires were allegedly set to erase what happened afterward. No fucking quantity of missing drugs explains away two little kids being stabbed to death.
