CBP Officer and Boy Scout Leader David Radecki Sexually Abused a 12-Year-Old Boy From His Troop

David Arthur Radecki was a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer in Michigan.

He was also a Boy Scout troop leader.

In October 2016, Radecki took a 12-year-old boy from his Scout troop to the Romulus Athletic Center for a swim.

There, Radecki sexually abused him.

Radecki was initially arrested on multiple charges, including criminal sexual conduct, child sexually abusive commercial activity, and indecent exposure.

In June 2017, he avoided a trial by pleading guilty to two charges: felony accosting a child for immoral purposes and misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

In August 2017, a judge sentenced him to one year in the Wayne County Jail and five years of felony probation.

He was also required to register as a sex offender for life.

His probation conditions prohibited him from having unsupervised contact with children, living near schools, owning or using internet-connected devices, and frequenting places commonly used by children.

The positions he held matter.

He was a federal law-enforcement officer. He was a Boy Scout leader. A 12-year-old boy was placed in his care because adults were supposed to be able to trust him. Radecki sexually abused that trust.
