Colorado Detention Deputy Zachariah Cullison Sexually Abused a Woman on Suicide Watch

Zachariah Allen Cullison was a detention deputy at the Weld County Jail in Colorado.

In January 2018, Cullison entered the cell of a woman who was incarcerated there.

She wasn't just in custody.

She was on level-three suicide watch.

Cullison engaged in sexual contact with her inside a housing unit restroom, temporarily moving them out of view of security cameras.

The sheriff’s office investigated. Surveillance footage corroborated parts of the woman’s account, and Cullison was arrested the following month.

He later pleaded guilty to felony unlawful sexual contact in a correctional facility.

His sentence?

Probation and work release. No state prison.

She was incarcerated. She was suicidal. He was one of the people entrusted with keeping her alive.

He saw that vulnerability and sexually exploited it.
