Donald Ray Berry Was Charged With Rape, Incest, and Sexually Abusing a Child Under 12

In July 2020, Donald Ray Berry, then 51, turned himself in to authorities in Jackson County, Alabama, after a grand jury returned indictments stemming from allegations first reported the previous year.

The charges were horrific: first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12, enticing a child, and incest. He was released on a $70,000 bond.

There is an important update beyond the information in the original report. Public sex-offender registry data reproduced online indicates that Berry was ultimately convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in May 2023 and required to register as a sex offender.

The available sources I found do not establish convictions on all of the original charges, so those allegations should not be presented as if a jury found him guilty of each one.
