Drew J. Garnier Stabbed His Pregnant Wife and Their Two Young Daughters. His Wife and Unborn Child Died.

Drew J. Garnier of New York was sentenced to 30 years in state prison for the September 2024 attack that killed his pregnant wife and unborn child and seriously wounded their two daughters.

On September 4, 2024, New York State Police responded to a domestic dispute at the family's home in Masonville.

Inside, troopers found Garnier had repeatedly stabbed his 29-year-old wife, Samantha Garnier, who was five months pregnant, as well as their daughters, ages 6 and 9.

Both girls survived after receiving medical treatment.

Samantha and her unborn child did not.

According to Samantha's father, who spoke in court, the violence was fueled by Garnier's anger after learning that the baby Samantha was carrying was another girl. He said Garnier had desperately wanted a boy.

Garnier was initially charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

In March 2025, he pleaded guilty to reduced charges of first-degree manslaughter and two counts of first-degree assault. Prosecutors said they agreed to the plea in part to spare the surviving children from having to testify at their father's trial.

On May 13, 2025, Garnier was sentenced to 30 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervision.

The court also rejected Garnier's request to remain in contact with his daughters. A strict protective order prohibits him from contacting them through 2056.

Those girls survived being stabbed by their own father. They also lost their mother and the sibling she was carrying.

Samantha Garnier was 29 years old and five months pregnant. Her daughters were only 6 and 9 when their father stabbed them too. According to Samantha's father, Garnier was angry because the baby was another girl. Samantha died. Her unborn child died. The two little girls fucking survived him.
