Former Border Patrol Agent Spencer Cox Was Indicted After a 16-Year-Old Girl Reported Sexually Explicit Messages

Spencer Allen Cox was a former U.S. Border Patrol agent stationed at the Uvalde Station in Texas.

In late 2019, San Antonio police began investigating after a 16-year-old girl reported that Cox had interacted with her online.

According to the arrest affidavit, Cox used a Snapchat profile that showed him wearing his Border Patrol uniform.

The girl told investigators she informed Cox that she was 16. Despite knowing her age, authorities alleged that Cox continued exchanging sexually explicit material with her, offered her money for photographs, and repeatedly asked her to meet him for a “car date” or to “hook up.”

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Cox's Snapchat account and said they recovered explicit communications, photographs, and videos linked to his profile.

Cox was arrested in January 2020. He was 24 and had previously spent four years with the Border Patrol.

In September 2020, a Bexar County grand jury indicted him on four felony counts, including online solicitation of a minor, offenses involving possession or electronic distribution of child sexual abuse material, and inducing a child to engage in sexual conduct for the creation of explicit material.
