Former CBP Officer Eric Higgins Was Convicted of Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material

Eric Douglas Higgins was a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer stationed at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Michigan.

Then he became a convicted sex offender.

On August 31, 2010, Higgins was convicted in federal court of knowingly possessing child pornography, the statutory name of the offense.

He was sentenced the following month to 20 months in federal prison.

Higgins was 31 years old at the time of his conviction and subsequently became a registered sex offender.

What matters here is straightforward:

A federal officer entrusted with enforcing the law was convicted of knowingly possessing material documenting the sexual abuse of children.
