Former FBI Agent Christopher Bauer Was Convicted of Sexually Abusing a Child. He Got Life in Prison.

Former FBI Agent Christopher Bauer Sexually Abused a Child. He Got Life in Prison.

Christopher Michael Bauer spent years in law enforcement. He served as an FBI special agent and later became an Alabama state trooper.

In June 2024, an Alabama jury convicted Bauer of first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12.

The evidence showed that Bauer had sexually abused the child repeatedly over several years, including during the period when he worked for the FBI.

In August 2024, Bauer was sentenced to life plus 20 years in prison.

No parole.

But there is another infuriating part of this story.

Bauer had already been forced out of the FBI in 2018 following allegations of misconduct. When he applied to become an Alabama state trooper the following year, investigators later found that his application included a forged letter supposedly from FBI headquarters, falsely portraying him as eligible for rehire.

It worked.

Alabama hired him.

A man who had been pushed out of one powerful law enforcement institution managed to put on another badge.

Bauer has also faced separate child sexual abuse charges in Louisiana.

This time, there was no probation. No suspended sentence. No quiet return to the community.

A jury convicted him. The judge sentenced him to life.
