Former ICE Agent Jeffrey Short Faced Five Felony Sex-Crime Charges Involving Teenage Girls

Former ICE Agent Jeffrey Short Was Charged With Sex Crimes Against Teenage Girls

Jeffrey Short was a former ICE agent and former Asher, Oklahoma city councilman when he was arrested in August 2019 following allegations involving teenage girls.

The investigation began after a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl reported inappropriate sexual touching to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office.

Prosecutors subsequently filed multiple felony charges against Short, including two counts of sexual battery, two counts of rape by instrumentation, and one count of lewd acts with a minor.

But the 2019 allegations weren't the first time Short's conduct around minors had drawn scrutiny.

Following his arrest, reporting revealed that the Department of Homeland Security had previously substantiated separate complaints from 2008 involving the exploitation of a minor in Short's ICE office. According to the information available here, those earlier allegations did not result in criminal charges.

That history makes the case especially important to document, but the legal distinction remains essential: the information here establishes that Short was charged in the 2019 case, not that he was convicted. Without a documented final disposition, the allegations should not be presented as proven facts.

Two teenage girls came forward. Prosecutors filed five felony sex-crime charges. And then the public learned that DHS had already substantiated an earlier complaint involving the exploitation of a minor in his ICE office more than a decade before. That fucking history matters.
