Former Prosecutor David McConkie Pleaded Guilty to Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child. He Got Probation.

Former Prosecutor David McConkie Pleaded Guilty to Sexually Assaulting a Child. He Got Probation.

David George McConkie spent years inside Colorado's criminal justice system.

He served as a deputy district attorney in El Paso County, prosecuting other people accused of crimes. He later entered private practice.

Then he became the defendant.

McConkie was arrested in 2023 and accused of sexually assaulting a child over a period stretching from 2004 to 2013.

In April 2025, he accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to criminal attempt to commit sexual assault on a child, a felony. The remaining charges were dismissed.

His sentence was five years of supervised sex-offender intensive probation.

No immediate prison time.

His legal career also effectively ended. Colorado disciplinary authorities later suspended him from practicing law for three years.

A former prosecutor knew exactly what a felony conviction meant. He knew what courtrooms were for and what the justice system was supposed to do.

Then he stood on the other side of one.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to sexually assault a child and received probation.
