Former Trumbull Cop Michael Gonzalez Used Police Computers to Track a Teenage Girl and Was Convicted of Sexual Assault, Stalking, and Unlawful Restraint.

Former Trumbull Police Officer Michael Gonzalez Stalked a Teenage Girl Using Police Computers. Then Came More Sexual Assault Allegations.

Michael Gonzalez was once publicly celebrated for donating part of his liver to another police officer’s daughter.

His career ended very differently.

In 2018, Gonzalez resigned from the Trumbull Police Department in Connecticut while internal affairs was investigating him.

Then investigators discovered he had been using police database computers to illegally track a teenage girl from the department’s Explorer/cadet program.

In 2019, he was arrested.

Gonzalez later entered an Alford plea to fourth-degree sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and stalking. He received three years of probation and was required to register as a sex offender.

And there had already been warning signs.

Before resigning, Gonzalez had reportedly been arrested in two separate domestic-violence cases, including one involving a female police officer he was training.

Then, while still serving probation, Gonzalez was arrested again in July 2021.

This time, a former girlfriend accused him of choking and sexually assaulting her. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

In 2023, a judge found that the new conduct violated the terms of his probation and sentenced Gonzalez to two and a half years in prison.

The distinction matters: the screenshot establishes the later allegations and probation violation, but does not establish a separate sexual-assault conviction from the 2021 case.

Still, the documented history is disturbing enough.

He had access to police databases meant to help protect people. He used them to track a teenage girl. That isn't policing. That's turning the tools of law enforcement into a fucking weapon.
