His Wife Filed for Divorce. Michael Haight Responded by Murdering His Entire Family.

Michael Haight Murdered Seven Members of His Family, Including His Five Children

Tausha Haight was 40 years old.

Her children were 17, 12, 7, 7, and 4.

Her mother, Gail Earl, was 78.

On January 4, 2023, police entered the Haight family home in Enoch, Utah, and found all seven of them dead.

Authorities determined that Michael Haight had shot and killed his wife, his five children, and his mother-in-law before killing himself.

But this story did not begin that morning.

Two years earlier, police had investigated allegations of child abuse after Haight's oldest daughter described incidents involving physical violence. No criminal charges followed.

Then, shortly before the murders, Tausha filed for divorce.

In the days before the killings, relatives reportedly removed firearms from the home because they feared for the family's safety. Haight later removed the guns from those relatives' home.

Investigators also found that he had searched online for "gunshot in a house" before the killings.

Then he murdered his family.

Afterward came something that makes this case especially difficult to stomach.

Haight's obituary initially described him as a loving father who "enjoyed making memories with his family." It praised his life while seven people he killed were dead.

The obituary was later removed after public outrage.

There is no version of this story where Michael Haight is its tragedy.

Tausha was. Gail was. Those five children were.

They should have been allowed to leave, grow up, change, get older, and have entire lives beyond that house.

Instead, one man made sure none of them could.

Remember the seven people whose futures were taken, not the man who took them.
