Felix Cisneros Jr. was a Homeland Security Investigations special agent entrusted with access to sensitive federal databases and criminal investigations.
He sold that access.
Between 2015 and 2016, Cisneros accepted roughly $100,000 to $122,000 in bribes from Edgar Sargsyan, an attorney connected to an Armenian organized-crime network.
In exchange, prosecutors proved that Cisneros used his position to access restricted government databases, provide information about active investigations, and delete damaging information concerning a foreign national with a criminal record.
And this wasn't his first federal conviction.
Cisneros had already been convicted in 2018 of helping a Mexican national with an extensive criminal record illegally reenter the United States. He served time in federal prison and was released in 2019.
Then investigators uncovered the bribery scheme.
In 2022, a federal jury convicted Cisneros of 30 felony counts, including conspiracy to commit bribery, bribery, money laundering, and subscribing to a false tax return.
He was initially sentenced to 121 months in federal prison, although an appeals court later vacated that sentence because of an error in the sentencing process and sent the case back for resentencing.
This wasn't a federal agent looking the other way.
He took money, opened government databases, and turned the information entrusted to him into something organized crime could fucking buy.
