HSI Agent Timothy Gregg Used a Law-Enforcement Database to Confirm a Girl Was 17. Then He Kept Exploiting Her.

Former HSI Agent and FBI Task Force Officer Timothy Gregg Exploited a 17-Year-Old Girl and Transported Explicit Images of Her. He Got Seven Years.

Timothy Ryan Gregg wasn't just a federal law-enforcement officer.

He served as a Homeland Security Investigations special agent and as an FBI task force officer in Minnesota.

Then he became the subject of a federal investigation himself.

Gregg met a 17-year-old girl on Tinder. Her profile initially listed her age as 19, but Gregg later admitted that she told him she was actually 17.

He continued seeing her anyway.

Gregg recorded at least 10 sexually explicit photographs and videos of their encounters at hotels and transmitted them back to her phone.

Under federal law, sexually explicit images of anyone under 18 constitute child sexual abuse material, regardless of the age of consent for sexual activity.

And Gregg knew exactly how serious that was.

After learning the girl was 17, he ran her name through a restricted law-enforcement database, discovered she really was a minor, and still continued meeting her and sending sexually explicit material.

The girl's father eventually discovered the files on her phone and contacted authorities.

Gregg was arrested in June 2025.

In October, he pleaded guilty to a federal count involving the transportation of visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

On July 9, 2026, a federal judge sentenced him to 84 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. He is also required to register as a sex offender.

Seven years.

But one detail makes this case especially fucking damning:

Timothy Gregg didn't merely have reason to suspect she was 17. He used a restricted law-enforcement database to check. He confirmed she was a child. And then he kept going.
