Kentucky Mother and Her Boyfriend Accused of Brutally Abusing Her Two Young Children

A Kentucky mother and her boyfriend are facing multiple felony charges after authorities say her 6- and 9-year-old children arrived at school with visible injuries, exposing what prosecutors allege was severe abuse inside their home.

According to court documents, 23-year-old Kyle Reynold allegedly subjected the children to repeated physical violence, including punching, biting, choking, and forcing them to hold heavy objects.

One child reportedly told investigators that Reynold once assaulted them so severely that the child “choked until she died” and that he then told her “goodnight forever.”

The children's mother, Phyllis Culp, 29, is also charged.

Culp allegedly admitted that she knew about the severe abuse but would hide in the bathroom while it happened. Investigators also allege that she used makeup to conceal the children's black eyes, neck marks, and bruises before sending them to school.

On August 28, 2026, school officials noticed the children's injuries and contacted child protective services and law enforcement. After a welfare check, both children were taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital because of the severity of their injuries.

Reynold now faces charges including attempted murder, multiple counts of first-degree assault, criminal abuse, strangulation, and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Culp faces multiple charges including criminal abuse, assault, strangulation, and child endangerment.

Both cases remain pending. Neither defendant has been convicted, and these allegations must still be proven in court.

But there are two children at the center of this story who reportedly went to school carrying evidence of what was happening at home on their bodies.

Prosecutors say he beat, bit and strangled them. Their mother allegedly knew, hid while it happened, then used makeup to cover their injuries before sending them to school. The fucking adults failed them. Someone at that school finally didn't.
