Lam Luong Murdered Four Children by Throwing Them From the Dauphin Island Bridge.

Lam Luong Threw Four Children, Including His Own Daughter, From an Alabama Bridge

On January 7, 2008, Lam Luong murdered four young children in Alabama.

They were Ryan Phan, 3; Hannah Luong, 2; Lindsey Luong, 1; and Danny Luong, just 4 months old.

One of the children was Luong's biological daughter. The others were children he was raising with his wife.

Luong drove the children to the Dauphin Island Bridge and threw them into the Mississippi Sound.

All four died.

Luong was convicted of capital murder in 2009 and sentenced to death.

Years of appeals followed. His death sentence was overturned, reinstated, and then reconsidered after experts evaluated him and determined that he met the legal criteria for an intellectual disability.

Because the U.S. Supreme Court has held that executing intellectually disabled people violates the Eighth Amendment, Luong was removed from Alabama's death row in 2018.

His sentence became life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The legal history is complicated.

What happened to those children isn't.

Ryan was 3. Hannah was 2. Lindsey was 1. Danny was four fucking months old. They deserved an entire lifetime beyond that bridge.
