Michael Cummins Murdered Eight People in Rural Tennessee. He Got Eight Consecutive Life Sentences.

Michael Cummins Murdered Eight People Across Rural Tennessee. Seven Were Members of the Same Family.

In April 2019, Michael Cummins carried out a series of attacks across multiple locations in rural Sumner County, Tennessee.

By the time it was over, eight people were dead.

Among them were Cummins's own mother and father, his uncle, a 12-year-old girl, and four other people.

Authorities said the victims were killed in separate locations during the same violent rampage.

Cummins was initially facing the death penalty and was scheduled to stand trial in 2023.

Then the case changed.

After reviewing evidence that included brain scans showing significant brain abnormalities and impaired brain activity, prosecutors agreed to withdraw the death penalty in exchange for guilty pleas that would end years of litigation and guarantee Cummins would never leave prison.

On August 16, 2023, Cummins pleaded guilty to eight counts of first-degree murder.

He received eight consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

No trial. No decades of appeals. No possibility of release.

Eight murders. Eight life sentences.

And behind that number are eight individual human beings whose lives were taken.

One of them was twelve fucking years old.
