Mohamed Lamin Kandeh Shot and Killed Both of His Parents. He Was Sentenced to 39 Years to Life.

Mohamed Lamin Kandeh of Delaware, Ohio, was sentenced in February 2026 to 39 years to life in prison for murdering both of his parents inside their home.

The victims were 61-year-old Mohamed Alusine Kandeh and 60-year-old Bintu Kandeh.

On September 3, 2023, police conducted a welfare check after Bintu failed to meet her daughter, Zainab, for lunch.

Zainab entered her parents' home and discovered both of them dead on the kitchen floor.

Kandeh had shot and killed his mother and father.

According to reporting on the case, the family had experienced serious concerns about Kandeh's behavior before the murders. Zainab described previous threats from her brother, including a 2022 incident in which he held a gun to their father's head. She had become so frightened that she went to the house armed with a knife and box cutter for protection.

Kandeh fled after the killings but was arrested the following day during a traffic stop approximately eight miles away.

He waived his right to a jury trial.

On December 17, 2025, a Delaware County judge found Kandeh guilty of four counts of murder and one count of tampering with evidence for cleaning the shell casings from the scene.

On February 23, 2026, he was sentenced to consecutive terms totaling 39 years to life in prison.

The sentence included 15 years to life for each murder, mandatory consecutive firearm enhancements, and an additional three years for tampering with evidence.

The circumstances surrounding Kandeh's reported mental-health history may be relevant to understanding the broader case, but they do not erase the two people who were killed.

Their names were Mohamed Alusine Kandeh and Bintu Kandeh. They were a father and mother who were shot to death inside their own home by their son. Their daughter went looking for them because her mother missed lunch and instead found both of her fucking parents dead on the kitchen floor.
