Paul Carpenter Shared Intimate Videos of His Ex Without Her Consent. He Got No Jail Time.

In 2019, a Connecticut woman discovered that sexually explicit images and videos of her had been sent to her friends without her consent.

Police traced the material to her former boyfriend, Paul Carpenter.

Investigators seized Carpenter's phone and computer. According to the arrest warrant, Carpenter dismissed the seriousness of what he had done, reportedly referring to it as "merely sending a couple videos" to the woman's best friend.

While the case was still pending, Carpenter was arrested again in 2020 for violating a protective order and criminal possession of a firearm after authorities found a rifle and ammunition despite an order requiring him to surrender his guns.

In September 2026, Carpenter pleaded guilty to illegal dissemination of an intimate image.

His sentence was 364 days in jail, fully suspended, and three years of conditional discharge.

No time behind bars.

Sharing someone's intimate images without permission is not gossip. It is not a breakup dispute. It is a deliberate violation of another person's privacy and sexual autonomy.

She did not consent to having her body distributed. That should be the part nobody forgets.
