Pueblo Cop Benjamin Candelaria Turned Off His Body Camera. Then a Woman Reported Sexual Assault.

Benjamin Candelaria spent 17 years with the Pueblo Police Department in Colorado.

In 2016, he responded to a domestic violence call and arrested a male suspect.

A highly intoxicated woman remained inside the home while Candelaria finished his paperwork.

Later, she told hospital staff that Candelaria had sexually assaulted her.

Investigators checked his body camera.

The footage captured Candelaria having a sexual conversation with the woman.

Then he turned the camera off for roughly 15 minutes.

When he turned it back on, investigators could hear Candelaria boasting about his sexual history.

The woman's underwear had been removed.

Candelaria resigned after his arrest.

In 2018, he pleaded guilty to criminal attempt to commit sexual assault, a felony, and first-degree official misconduct.

His sentence was 15 months in county jail, followed by 10 years of intensive sex-offender probation. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

He responded to a domestic violence call.

He encountered an intoxicated woman.

Then the camera went dark.

Fifteen minutes later, it came back on. Her underwear was off.
