School Resource Officer Joshua Carrier Sexually Abused 18 Children. He Got 70 Years to Life.

Colorado Springs School Resource Officer Joshua Carrier Molested Children at the School Where He Was Supposed to Protect Them

Joshua Carrier wasn't just a police officer.

He was a school resource officer at Horace Mann Middle School.

He coached wrestling. He volunteered with youth programs. He worked around children every day.

Then investigators found roughly 42,000 illicit images on his computer.

And children started coming forward.

Investigators learned that Carrier had used his position of trust to isolate and sexually assault adolescent boys. Some victims said Carrier brought them into his office for supposed “medical examinations” and touched them sexually under the guise of checking them for ringworm.

It took two trials to unravel the full scope of what he had done.

In the first, Carrier was convicted on 21 counts involving child sexual abuse material.

In the second, a jury convicted him on 123 additional counts, including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, enticement of a child, and unlawful sexual contact.

Altogether, Carrier was convicted of abusing 18 children.

He was sentenced to 70 years to life in prison.

These kids went to school with a police officer in the building.

A man adults had specifically placed there to help keep them safe.

He wasn't protecting the children from danger. He was the danger.
