Shanita Renee Lewis, Beloved “Team Mom,” Was Killed in a Montgomery Murder-Suicide

Shanita Renee Lewis Was Killed in a Domestic Murder-Suicide in Montgomery

On March 1, 2026, 38-year-old Shanita Renee Lewis was fatally shot in what Montgomery, Alabama, authorities classified as a domestic-related murder-suicide.

Police and medics responded to the 2400 block of Chase Park Drive around 6:38 p.m. and found Lewis suffering from critical gunshot wounds.

She was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.

Officers also found an adult man at the scene who had died from what authorities determined was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

But Shanita was more than the victim in another murder-suicide statistic.

She was known throughout the Montgomery Braves football community as “Team Mom,” and the organization remembered her as a foundational source of support, strength, and encouragement for its players.

Her funeral and “Farewell Life Celebration” were held on March 14.

Shanita Renee Lewis was 38 years old. Her death was classified as part of a murder-suicide, but she did not choose to die. She was fucking murdered.
