Pueblo County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Diego Duran Sexually Assaulted a Woman. He Got Probation.

Diego Duran spent 31 years with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado.

He retired as a lieutenant.

But before he retired, a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her.

In September 2022, Duran targeted a female employee of the 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office while she was on her lunch break. Prosecutors said he attempted to sexually assault her inside his truck.

After an internal affairs investigation, Duran retired from the sheriff’s office.

In 2023, he pleaded guilty to felony attempted sexual assault.

His sentence was six years of intensive sex offender probation.

No prison.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life, have no contact with the victim, stay away from sexually explicit material, and have no contact with anyone under 18 without approval.

Thirty-one years in law enforcement.

A felony sex offense.

And he walked out of court with probation.
