St. Lucie County Deputy Matthew Morris Sexually Assaulted a Woman While on Duty. He Got Seven Years.

Former St. Lucie County Deputy Matthew Morris Forced a Woman to Perform Sexual Acts While He Was on Duty

Matthew Blair Morris was a patrol deputy with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

In 2010, while working a night shift, Morris encountered a 41-year-old woman walking near Fort Pierce Magnet School of the Arts.

He stopped her.

Then, according to investigators, he ordered her into the school grounds and forced her to perform sexual acts on him.

The woman told investigators that Morris made it clear refusing him would not be in her best interest.

She also reported that Morris told her he regularly engaged in similar behavior with other women in the area.

Morris was arrested in September 2010 on charges of sexual battery by a government agent, a first-degree felony, and official misconduct, a third-degree felony.

He resigned from the sheriff’s office immediately after his arrest.

Following the legal proceedings, Morris was sentenced to seven years in prison.

This wasn't simply a sexual assault committed by someone who happened to work in law enforcement.

He was on patrol. He had a badge, authority, and the power to make a woman afraid of what would happen if she said no. He used all of it against her.
