Stephen Corbin was an 11-year veteran of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.
In February 2025, while off duty and driving his marked patrol car, Corbin encountered a woman he knew who had an active warrant connected to a prior family-assault case.
Instead of simply doing his job, prosecutors said Corbin offered her a deal.
Pay him $1,000, and he would make sure she didn’t go to jail.
She refused.
Corbin was arrested and immediately resigned from the sheriff’s office. He initially faced multiple charges, including bribery, battery, false imprisonment, and solicitation to commit prostitution.
In February 2025, Corbin pleaded no contest to a single second-degree felony charge of unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior. The remaining charges were dropped as part of the agreement.
His sentence?
Six months in jail, followed by 10 years of probation.
Corbin was also required to permanently surrender his law-enforcement certification.
The judge withheld adjudication, meaning he would not have a formal felony conviction on his record if he successfully completed probation.
This was a deputy sitting in a marked patrol car with the power to arrest someone.
He allegedly tried to turn that power into a fucking transaction. Pay me, and you don’t go to jail. That isn’t law enforcement. That’s corruption with a badge.
