Edwin Renderos Coreas Accused of Kidnapping, Blindfolding, and Repeatedly Sexually Assaulting an 18-Year-Old Woman

On October 14, 2026, Edwin Renderos Coreas, 38, was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, after authorities accused him of kidnapping and repeatedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman.

According to investigators, the attack occurred on October 11 in south Omaha.

Police allege Renderos Coreas abducted the young woman, blindfolded her, and sexually assaulted her multiple times.

The victim told investigators she believed he was going to kill her.

Three days later, Omaha police identified Renderos Coreas' vehicle and arrested him during a traffic stop.

He faces two counts of first-degree sexual assault, kidnapping, and false imprisonment.

Investigators also uncovered a previous criminal case in California.

In 2025, Renderos Coreas was arrested on felony domestic abuse charges. He later pleaded guilty to a lesser offense and left the state.

Federal immigration authorities had reportedly issued a detainer during that investigation, but California authorities did not honor the request, and he was released before federal custody could be established.

That history raises questions about his prior release, but it does not establish that the earlier case could have prevented the alleged Omaha attack.

Renderos Coreas is being held at the Douglas County Jail.

The Nebraska charges remain pending, and he has not been convicted of the alleged kidnapping or sexual assaults.
