Jacoby Brandon Brooks Murdered His Former Girlfriend and Their 4-Year-Old Son Before Killing Himself

On February 13, 2020, 25-year-old Jacoby Brandon Brooks shot and killed his former girlfriend and their 4-year-old son in Vallejo, California, before dying by suicide.

The violence came to light shortly before midnight.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., Vallejo police responded to reports of an unresponsive woman near the intersection of Lewis Brown Road and B.W. Williams Drive.

When officers arrived, they discovered Brooks' 26-year-old former girlfriend dead from at least one gunshot wound.

The woman was later identified in media reports as the sister of Bay Area rapper Nef the Pharaoh. Her name was not provided in the available account.

As investigators worked to identify the victim and notify her family, they learned that she had a young child.

Detectives went to a residence on Quartz Lane to conduct a welfare check.

There, they discovered the couple's 4-year-old son, who had also been shot to death.

But Brooks would never face trial.

Shortly afterward, authorities located his body in an area southeast of the Quartz Lane crime scene.

Investigators determined that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Vallejo Police Department classified the case as a domestic violence-related double murder-suicide.

Because Brooks died, there was no criminal prosecution. Authorities identified him as responsible for the killings through their investigation.
