Jalonni Blackshear Sentenced to 150 Years for Murdering Wife and 14-Year-Old Daughter After Sexual Abuse Report

Former Alaska Corrections Officer Murdered His Wife and Teenage Daughter After She Reported Sexual Abuse

On April 4, 2022, Jalonni Marcel Blackshear, a former Alaska corrections officer, shot and killed his wife and their 14-year-old daughter inside their Anchorage home.

The victims were Raechyl Blackshear and Jayla Blackshear.

Just days earlier, on March 30, Jayla had reported that her father sexually abused her.

On April 3, Blackshear manipulated his wife into taking Jayla to the police station, where the teenager attempted to recant her allegations.

The following day, Blackshear shot both his wife and daughter in the head inside an upstairs bedroom.

Then he tried to make everyone believe they were still alive.

Investigators say Blackshear took control of their phones and sent messages pretending to be Raechyl and Jayla, creating fake activity to conceal their deaths.

Their bodies remained undiscovered for ten days.

When neighbors requested a welfare check on April 15, police entered the home and found both women dead.

Blackshear had already fled Alaska.

Authorities tracked him across several states before arresting him on Staten Island, New York, on April 20, 2022.

He was initially indicted on murder charges alongside allegations of sexual abuse, incest, and forgery.

On January 27, 2026, Blackshear pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for killing Raechyl and second-degree murder for killing Jayla. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

On June 2, 2026, he was sentenced to 150 years in prison without the possibility of early release, consisting of two consecutive 75-year sentences.

The judge condemned his elaborate efforts to impersonate his victims after killing them.

Jayla was 14 years old. She reported sexual abuse by her own father. Days later, she and her mother were dead.

Raechyl and Jayla deserved safety, protection, and the chance to live their lives. Instead, the man who was supposed to protect them murdered them and then pretended they were still alive.

He got 150 years. They should have gotten a lifetime.
