Levi Norwood Murdered His Mother and 6-Year-Old Brother, Then Tried to Kill His Father

On February 14, 2020, 17-year-old Levi Norwood shot and killed his mother, Jennifer Norwood, 34, and his little brother, Wyatt, 6, inside their home in Midland, Virginia.

When his father, Joshua Norwood, returned home from work, he discovered their bodies.

Levi then ambushed his father, shooting him before fleeing the house.

Joshua survived.

A massive manhunt followed. Police eventually found Levi hiding in a Target store in Durham, North Carolina, where he was arrested.

Investigators later learned that Levi had planned the murders. He claimed he wanted to punish his father, whom he accused of abusing him and interfering with his relationship with his girlfriend. Prosecutors disputed those allegations.

In August 2022, Levi pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for his mother's death and second-degree murder for his brother's death. An attempted murder charge involving his father was dropped as part of the plea agreement.

On February 1, 2023, he was sentenced to life in prison plus 40 years.

At sentencing, the judge described Levi as a danger to himself, others, and society.

Because he was 17 when he committed the murders, Levi will be eligible to apply for parole after serving 20 years under Virginia law.

Jennifer was 34. Wyatt was six fucking years old. Whatever anger Levi had toward his father, his mother and little brother didn't deserve to die for it.
