David Grodnick Murdered His Wife and 24-Year-Old Daughter Before Killing Himself in Their New Jersey Home

In October 2026, 61-year-old David Grodnick, a wealthy New Jersey title insurance executive, shot and killed his wife and adult daughter before dying by suicide inside the family's $1.7 million home in Montgomery Township.

The victims were Lora Grodnick, 62, and Sloane Grodnick, 24.

On October 1, someone requested a welfare check at the family's home in the Skillman neighborhood.

When police entered the following day, they discovered Lora and Sloane dead from gunshot wounds to the head in separate bedrooms.

David was also found dead, with a firearm in his hand.

The medical examiner ruled both women's deaths homicides and David's death a suicide.

Grodnick was a senior vice president and underwriting counsel at Land Services USA. The family had moved to Skillman in 2021 and was reportedly active in local country clubs.

Their daughter, Sloane, was an artist who had studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Rhode Island School of Design.

She was 24 years old. She had an education, artistic ambitions, and an entire life that should have been ahead of her.

Instead, her father killed her.

Reports also revealed a lengthy history of civil litigation involving the family, including class-action lawsuits and property disputes. However, investigators have not established that those legal matters had anything to do with the murders.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed a motive.

Because Grodnick died, there will be no criminal trial. Investigators classified the deaths as a domestic double murder-suicide.

Lora was 62. Sloane was 24. They lived in a $1.7 million mansion, and neither was safe from the man living inside it.

Money doesn't prevent domestic violence. A prestigious career doesn't make someone a good man. And a beautiful fucking house means nothing when the danger lives under the same roof.
